Grammy and American Music Award nominees After 7 (Melvin Edmonds, Kevon Edmonds, and Keith Mitchell), best known for their dynamic and distinctive R&B sound, marked a 32-year musical milestone in 2021.

In 1988, these three talented young men from Indianapolis, Indiana, were brought to Virgin Records by the legendary hit-making duo Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Kevon and Melvin’s younger brother.

After 7—currently comprised of Kevon Edmonds, Wil Robinson, and Trevon Jones—is one of R&B’s most celebrated vocal groups, known for their dynamic stage presence, signature harmonies, and a sound that blends classic soul with urban contemporary edge. With a career spanning over three decades, the group has captivated multiple generations with Platinum and Gold-selling hits, chart-topping singles, such as “Can’t Stop”, “Ready or Not”, including “Nights like this” featured in the film soundtrack “The Five Heartbeats”, and “Gonna Love You Right” from the soundtrack “Sugar Hill”.

Formed in the early ’90s, After 7 has stayed true to the essence of great vocal groups while continuously evolving with today’s sound. Their live shows deliver not only nostalgic magic, but also the fresh pulse of what’s now, making every performance a moment fans won’t forget.

Released in 2021, Unfinished Business is the group’s fifth studio album and a testament to their staying power. A celebration of love and relationships wrapped in their signature R&B style, the album produced four consecutive Top 10 hits on the Billboard Adult R&B chart, Bittersweet”, No Place Like You”, and “Tomorrow Can Wait”, to name a few.

Critics and fans agree that After 7 continues to deliver, with each release further cementing their legacy. Some accomplishments include Grammy and American Music Award nominations, NAACP Image Award recipients, and Multi-Platinum and Gold album certifications.

Over the decades of consistent chart success, After 7 is timeless. With every performance and release, they prove that their journey is far from over. From soul-stirring ballads to captivating live energy. After 7 invites audiences into a musical experience that is refined, powerful, and enduring. With each and every show and song, After 7 reassures their fans that there is still so much more to come.

Brother Kenneth “BabyFace” Edmonds, along with his former business partner L .A. Reid; discovered the group where they were immediately signed to Virgin Records. It was then that “After 7” launched their singing career, stepping into what would become a new musical dynasty of crooners during the early 1990’s.

Their debut album, self-titled “After 7” sold Platinum plus and yielded Two Gold Singles. “Ready or Not” climbed the billboard charts to the #1 position on R&B while the smash single “Can’t Stop” topped out at #6 on billboards Hot 100 Pop Charts. The first release from their 1989 debut album, “Heat Of The Moment” was a Top Ten Single on the Urban Charts and too garnered a solid position on the Pop Charts which then opened the door to a host of awards and major tours.

“After 7” continued their string of success with the follow-up single “Nights Like This”, from the movie soundtrack, “The Five Heartbeats”. Three years later “After 7” came with their second album entitled, “Takin’ My Time”, that was sprinkled with such gems as “Baby I’m For Real”, “Kickin’ It”, and “Can He Love You Like This”.

Both their second and third albums achieved Gold status which helped to keep the name alive at both radio and in the market place across the country. Thanks to strong relationships at radio, “After 7’s” music continues to play, which has contributed towards building a solid foundation for endearing fans for the group.

Having been heavily influenced by such groups as “The Whispers, Temptations, Four Tops and Originals”; it’s no wonder that their stage performance is reminiscent of the 1960’s style male groups. In their own unique way, “After 7” manages to create a contemporary presence while combining a smooth style of the sixty’s.

“After 7” has shared the stage with many different artists ranging from BabyFace, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Gladys Knight, M. C. Hammer, Patti LaBelle, Peabo Bryson, R Kelly, Regina Belle, Smokey Robinson, The Whispers and Whitney Houston in addition to many others. Their music is timeless and their presentation has always been classy and elegant.

In the early 2000s Jason Edmonds (Melvin’s son) joined original members Kevon Edmonds and Keith Mitchell replacing his father, Melvin in the group to make up the trio. "After 7" has maintained a constant presence with live performances, entertaining fans and audiences across the country and abroad.

Today "After7" is proud to announce they have returned to the studio for the first time since the mid-90’s. Kevon, Keith and Jason, joined by former original member, Melvin Edmonds have released their new single "I Want You".

The single is written and produced by Kenneth "Babyface " Edmonds and Daryl Simmons. Their new music was released to the airwaves on October 5, 2015 and will be available on ITunes soon.
